A Nigerian business entrepreneur and business advocate, with a global financial influence once said;
'The energy that Nigerians have is uniquely different from the rest of Africa, and it needs to be harnessed by the government by enhancing support for start-ups and entrepreneurship'...
Bade Aluko.
We certainly believe on this premise and hence we are focused on seeking out venture capitalists in the U.S. and Nigeria. Investors that are ready and capable to invest on such energy and with commitments to become stake-holders in start-ups and early-stage businesses that are ready to scale.
In addition, we believe and will always advocate for a trilateral relationship between the government, private sector and academic institutions. We are confident that this is a sustainable business model.
The creation of business incubation labs is a key business model approach that we aspire at Emordi Associates. We believe that business incubation labs should be established as early as the secondary schools level. Students are taught, mostly by volunteer active and retired executives, the real life and practical fundamentals of operating businesses. A viable option for graduating secondary school students who are not able to continue in a formal higher institution settings.
Forming Tri-lateral relationships can help accelerate start-ups, incubation centers can come together to develop technology solutions to the global, and by extension; the Nigerian food challenges.
Venture capital investors has certainly taken notice of this opportunities and as such Agri-Tech has grown 75% since 2014 and chances of further growth has not abated.
Food Production
We have a vision to provide economic opportunities through innovation in agriculture. Helping Nigerian agriculture businesses to thrive by promoting agriculture production that better nourishes Nigerians.
Food Processing
We will assist Nigerian farmers (start-ups & established) businesses in solving challenges within the middle of the food supply chain. Assist in the sourcing and acquisition of required machinery and technology to help consolidate processing capacity. We will tap into our U.S. resources in this sector to assist the Nigerian farmers, by providing solutions and creating a robust assistance from our U.S. network.
Food Distribution
The resiliency and challenges of the Nigerian food system is having the right infrastructure in the right places to gather, move and hold food where and when it's needed. We are committed to assisting the Nigerian farmer in providing solutions in this area.
Market & Consumers
The global pandemic exposed and exacerbated an already food and nutrition insecurity in Nigeria.
So, We will consult with our Nigerian farmers and business owner clients to help create and expand access to markets and consumers access to healthy foods.
Overall, we will sought out U.S. agriculture businesses, leveraging their skills and technology and formulating alliances with the Nigerian agriculture sector.
We are partnering with USDA- Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) and accessing some of the available programs on behalf of our Nigerian clients.
The current U.S. Biden-Harris administration is committed to investing in alternative sources ( clean energy) within and outside the U.S. As part of addressing the critical issue of global climate change.
At Emordi Associates, we are strategically positioned to leverage such resources and connect the dot directly to the alternative energy sector opportunities in Nigeria.
Hydropower Energy
We will tie-in to the current work that's been done at U.S. department of energy in establishing infrastructure and new technologies to enable hydropower growth, expand energy storage, and reduce environmental impact. We will connect the dots directly to the Nigerian alternative energy outlook in hydropower.
Wind Energy
Recent reports show that U.S. wind energy deployment and generating capacity are booming- delivering cheap, reliable and clean energy to power more homes and businesses. We will work with our Nigerian clients ( government and private ) in support of the deployment of all three wind energy applications; Land-based, Offshore and Distribution (tie-into programs that support the siting and construction of high-voltage transmission lines, that is important for both land-based and offshore winds).
Solar Energy
Utility organizations and grid operators of Solar energy face the challenges of uncertainty just like any weather forecasters. In 2018, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) awarded a grant to the university of Arizona ( a Sun abundant location identical to Nigeria) to tackle this challenge of uncertainty at the grid. The resulting Solar Forecast Arbiter (SFA) is a first-of-its-kind platform that analysis solar forecasts so that grid operators can manage the amount of solar energy on the grid. We will create alliances with U.S. organizations that are leveraging this technology and once again connect the dots to the Nigerian solar energy space. Overall, innovation is a complex systems problem; we recognize that most organizations and governments under-investments in transformation are manifold. They might not recognize the need to, or paralyzed by the absence of perfect information about disruptive opportunities which only materialize after those opportunities are gone. At Emordi Associates, through due diligent research, we are that just-in-time platform that help our clients capture those opportunities. While we live in the present moment at all times, our business model in it's entirety, is based on the premise that the future matters more than the past.
